The 5th Happy Maichailen Awards Contest encourages college students with happy initiatives to win scholarships worth over 300,000 baht

The Happy Maichailen Awards Contest enters its fifth year and encourages students from all universities to vie for scholarships worth altogether over 300,000 baht by proposing the impressive ideas that they think match the “Happy 5 Ha Ha” theme and should make Thai people happy. This contest covers three categories of entries: television commercials, Happy refill cards and Happy Station radio program hosts. It is aimed at allowing students to build on their knowledge and skills through the world of real business as finalists will attend workshops with leading professionals in the relevant fields.

Mr. Vatcharaphong Siripark, Head of Communications, Total Access Communication Public Company Limited (dtac), says the Happy Maichailen project has proved to be highly successful since its debut four years ago with regard to warm welcome from students and teachers at universities. The number of contestant teams keeps rising every year. Some universities have even included the contest in their curricula that require students to create their works and send them to teachers and then the Happy Maichailen Awards Contest. By this means, students have good chances to build on their knowledge and skills and prepare themselves for professionalism after graduation. The campuses that have introduced such curricula include the Faculty of Informatics of the Mahasarakam University, the Faculty of Liberal Arts of the Prince of Songkla University (the Hat Yai campus), and the Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL) in Chiang Mai province.

“dtac will take into consideration the qualified entries from each category and they may be developed for real uses. The company will grant creativity and design fees to the owners whose selected entries are so developed and publicized. The fees will add to the awards that they will obtain from the contest. dtac developed successful entries of the past contests into its television commercials and Happy refill cards. Last year the company turned the refill card ideas of ten finalists into its real refill cards. The cards of the special issue are collectible as they also show off the designs that represent the characteristics of Thai cultures from all the four regions of the country,” Mr. Vatcharapong says.

This year the creativity contest “The 5th Happy Maichailen Awards” is organized under the concept of “Happy 5 Ha Ha”, aimed at making Thai people happy. The contest is offering scholarships worth altogether over 300,000 baht. The first prize for the champion of each category is a 50,000-baht scholarship, the second prize is a 30,000-baht scholarship and the third prize is a 20,000-baht scholarship. Winners will receive the scholarships, Happy Maichailen honorary plaques and certificates. University students can send their creative entries in the following categories of the contest.
